Interlude
FROM THE ONLINE CHAPBOOK THE JOHN AND MIM POEMS
Interlude
Miriam Levine
This odd November day
when the air is warm as June,
his hand on mine, warmer still,
“I love this interlude with you,”
away from the world.” He
wants another year, winter,
spring, summer, fall. Summer,
when he can linger
in the porch chair,
in the bower he’s planted,
and read in unbroken leisure
In Search of Lost Time
and wonder at the long lyrical
sentences and rebirth of pleasure.
