Melissa, you made them move your bed. Indiscriminate

sun found you then; democratic, you would say.

You, who scorned the flash and photographed

the poor, documented yourself until the day you died.

In gelatin silver, your beauty; in digital,

your ruin. You caught us, too, unobtrusively.

We loved your wry voice, “I won’t forget long

earrings, milk with stingy shots of coffee,

Boris Karloff, my last Shih Tsu. And Bogie,

the dog who never chased a thing.”
